The Tabata interval, adapted from Dr. Izumi Tabata, is a regularly used CrossFit training device of 20 seconds of intense strength training followed by 10 seconds of rest, repeated eight times (4 minutes) for each exercise. [1] The Tabata Interval first appeared on CrossFit.com March 4, 2001.

Tabata´s original scientific protocol was done on an cycle ergometer to an VO2max of 170%. The carryover to other forms of training is criticized, "the-tabata-myth"
