A concentric contraction is the shortening of a muscle due to muscular contraction, as in the contraction of the biceps brachii during a concentration curl. In a concentric muscle action, the resistance force is less than the force output of the involved muscles. The opposite of concentric contraction is eccentric contraction. [1]
